Does anyone know a good route to run near Bushkill 04/10/2008 11:10
Hi there.

I have a summer house in Bushkill area and planning to do my long (10-20 miles) runs on the weekends. This will help me to prepare for the NYC Marathon in November.
I would really appreciate any suggestions for a route near this area.

Thanks.
Igor

Good Morning Igor -

I live and run in the Bushkill area. Sadly most of the roads are heavily travelled but I can give you a couple of the routes I use - most start in the lake of the Pines area since that is where I live. A simple run is along Route 209 in the Water Gap Recreation Area. You can park by the bldg. near Mile Post 1 and run North; you will have views of the river, farms, fields, mountains and if you are lucky you will see an Eagle or two soaring along the river. For the most part the shoulder is wide enough to be comfortable and since it is an out and back you can go as far as you like - just count the mile posts. If this route becomes boring there are many back roads that I use to add interest, drop me a line (atcboss@ptd.net) and I can give you more details. The Bushkill area is a really pretty place to run but as you have already figured out, there aren't many flat stretches - another reason to run in the Recreation Area - there are long stretches of 209 that are basically flat.
